Labor Relations Manager

Our Client, the Alkali Chemicals division of a global leader in the mining, production and marketing of inorganic minerals and chemicals, is the world's largest producer of natural soda ash, offering a secure, reliable and diverse range of high-quality product choices. The Alkali division mines and processes trona ore and manufactures soda ash that is used in the production of glass, detergent formulation, chemical manufacturing, pulp and paper production, and water treatment. It also produces sodium bicarbonate and other chemical compounds used in common industrial and household applications. Our main Alkali operations are in Green River, Wyoming (USA), home of the world's largest trona ore deposit.

Position Description
Reporting to the Human Resources Site Manager, the Labor Relations Manager plans, directs, and coordinates the labor relations activities for the Green River facility. The role analyzes and interprets the collective bargaining agreement and related documents/practices to advise management and union officials on the development, application, and interpretation of labor relations policies and practices.

Key Responsibilities / Activities
oProvide leadership and direction on the labor relations strategy and desired culture for the site.
oRepresent management in labor contract negotiations. Prepare for and coordinate contract negotiations including contingency planning.
oAnalyze the collective bargaining agreement and related documents/practices to interpret the intent, spirit, and terms of the contract.
oLead and manage the grievance process. Compile information on grievances, arbitrations or other labor/management disputes to determine points of issue and paths to resolution, utilizing knowledge of the business, past practice and applicable law.
oAdvise management and union officials on the development, application, and interpretation of company labor relations policies and practices. Provide guidance for consistency of contract administration and disciplinary actions
oInvestigate or supervise the investigation of violations of company policies and/or performance guidelines.
oMonitor implementation of policies concerning wages, hours, and working conditions to ensure compliance to labor contract terms.
oSupervise the work activities of employees involved in labor relations functions of organization.
oProvide reporting related to Labor Relations. Complete reports on cases, findings, and issues.
oSupport the site's Responsible Care Program and ISO 9000 efforts
oMonitor workers' compensation, sick leave and restricted duty employees' status
oAssist with HR department responsibilities as required

Skill, Capability and Educational Requirements
oBachelor's degree required; MS or MBA with HR focus preferred
oMinimum of 15 years direct Human Resources experience with 8-10 years labor relations experience. Experience in a manufacturing, industrial or mining setting preferred.
oDirect experience negotiating labor agreements, handling grievances, preparing for arbitration, and handling discipline required
oNegotiation and persuasion skills:

Listening to what other people are saying and asking clarifying questions as appropriate.
oVerbal and written communications skills:

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
